2016 marked the 600th Anniversary of The Chorister School and the start of a decade of celebrations and events. We are keen to reconnect with as many former parents, pupils and members of staff, and encourage you to contact us to ensure that we have your current contact details.
On Saturday 18 June at 2pm, a Service of Thanksgiving was held in Durham Cathedral. At this service current and former pupils, parents, staff and governors gathered to celebrate the life of The Chorister School. The service was sung by the combined forces of the Cathedral Choir and The Galilee Choir, accompanied by Prince Bishops Brass and the Cathedral Organ. A newly composed setting of the Jubilate by Philip Stopford was commissioned for this service and a new Processional Cross for The Chorister School, designed and made by Simon Pattison, was dedicated. The preacher wasTerry Waite CBE.
Later that day, a Black Tie Celebration Ball was held in a marquee on the Palmer’s Close Sports Field (at the New Inn cross roads on Quarry Heads Lane) for all those with an association with The Chorister School.
