I should be delighted to welcome you to The Chorister School and especially so in this our 600th anniversary year!
There is a myth that The Chorister School is all about singing! There certainly have been choristers singing the services in Durham cathedral for hundreds of years and we are, of course, very proud of this choral heritage. But the School is home to a thriving day and boarding community, offering a full range of sporting and extra-curricular options alongside high academic standards. The traditional choir school model is something very special, encouraging a certain energy and pace which describes everything we do, and prepares our pupils to work and think both independently and as part of team. We are the only stand-alone prep school in Durham, affording our pupils the choice of transfer at 13+ to senior schools throughout the country, often with scholarships.
There is no better way to get a feel for a school than to visit. I look forward to meeting you.
