Form One

First Form is the first step in the journey through the Prep School. There is an emphasis on ensuring a smooth transition from Pre-Prep to the Prep School and to make certain that the children are as familiar and as comfortable as possible with staff, routines, buildings etc. The Form One base is close to the front door and the hub of the school but is also situated near to the Pre-Prep department and we both have access to a shared courtyard.

The care and education of all the First Form pupils is shared between two First Form members of staff who deliver the bulk of the academic curriculum along with PSHCE, Circle Time and Stilling (the opportunity to develop an inner awareness and the ability to reflect) as the Hidden Curriculum is of huge importance. The children also experience lessons with other specialist teachers on a weekly basis, including P.E, Swimming, Games, Music and DT.

The essence of Form One is to educate, to encourage independence, the ability to organise ones self, to accept responsibility for belongings and to develop the children’s self belief. A positive self-esteem is the key to a child realising/reaching their full potential at The Chorister School and throughout their life.

Form One pupils enjoy many trips and activities over the year to stimulate and support activities across the curriculum. We aim to make First Form an exciting and enjoyable experience for children and parents throughout the year.
