1) Durham Cathedral's- Schools Outreach Project

Aims:

  • To extend the support, knowledge and expertise of over 600 years experience of children's individual and choral singing, to the wider community of children.
  • To develop the enjoyment and quality of choral singing across the North East region.
  • To put into place a self funding charging system to ensure sustainability of Outreach Programme after 2011

During 2008/09 the School Programme is available free to Primary Schools in Durham, Sunderland and South Tyneside.  The children involved will be invited to join the Durham Cathedral Young Singers for their further enjoyment and singing development (For further information see the Durham Cathedral Young Singers section)

The programme is available to 8 schools per term, identified through the Local Authority music department.

At the end of the term the children from all 8 schools and the Cathedral Choristers will sing in a concert held at the Cathedral. Parents, extended families and friends of the school will be able to attend the concert.
