School Structure > Boarding

We offer full boarding facilities for children from the age of 8. [Sometimes children board temporarily at an age younger than that by arrangement between school and parent.]
We offer full boarding, weekly boarding and Flexi or temporary boarding.

We are able to take boarders from overseas if a local guardian can be arranged.
All boarders share a room with up to 6 others in one case but more usually up to 3 or 4. Rooms are modern and welcoming and very secure.

There is a Play station room, a common room with TV, video and snooker table, as well as many organised trips out to local restaurants, swimming pools, climbing walls, quad bike tracks, laser centres and many other places. We have domestic, catering and laundry staff to ensure a comfortable stay.

There are lots of reasons for living in at The Chorister School. All the Cathedral Choristers do for a start. Other children live here because their homes are too far away to make the daily journey conveniently possible. Very busy parents are happy to know that their children are fully occupied and really well cared for during the week; they can enjoy sharing good time with them at the weekend. Children living at a distance quickly discover the pleasures of this term time home where they can be with lots of other children developing confidence, maturity and independence.

Parents of children who live at the school come to see them as often as they wish. The telephone and e-mail help to keep everyone in touch.

The care team includes the Headteacher and his wife, the boarding housemaster and his wife, the houseparents, who help to ensure that boarders are clean, warm, healthy and happy and 2 boarding house assistants to complete the team. [One toddler and dog also!] A boarding facility for girls is established to provide an equal opportunity for girls to board as well as boys. The girls enjoy boarding quite as much as the boys. Boarding can be the best choice that parents make for children. Talking to the boarding housemaster and to the parents of other children are good ways of finding out more.
